Day 3 of the Olympics in Paris was a thrilling one for Team Canada, filled with remarkable achievements and intense competitions!

Summer McIntosh made headlines by capturing gold in the women’s 400m individual medley. This victory added to her impressive titles as a two-time world champion and a world record holder.

In a close race, Kyra Constantine finished fourth in the women’s 200m freestyle final, narrowly missing the podium by three-quarters of a second. It was her first individual Olympic final, and she showed great promise.

Looking ahead, two more Canadians, Summer McIntosh and Kyra Constantine, will compete in the women’s 100m backstroke final on Tuesday, showing strong performances in the semifinals.

In judo, Christa Deguchi celebrated a historic win, taking home the first-ever Olympic gold medal for Canada in this sport. She defeated world number three, Huh Mimi, in the women’s 57kg final. This win added another highlight to her already impressive judo career.

Team Canada’s wrestling hopes were kept alive as well when a competitor came close to a bronze medal opportunity but fell short in the men’s 73kg event, losing in the repechage.

In diving, the duo of Wiens and Zsombor-Murray made history by winning Canada’s first Olympic medal in the men’s synchronized 10m platform event, grabbing bronze and standing proud on the podium.

In women’s rugby, Canada advanced to the semifinals after a thrilling upset win against host team France with a last-minute try, solidifying their spot in medal contention.

The skateboarders also had their moment, with one making it to the men’s street event final and finishing seventh, marking Canada’s best Olympic result in this sport.

In gymnastics, Team Canada made its Olympic debut in the men’s team final, finishing eighth despite some trouble on the pommel horse in the final round.

In tennis, Leylah Fernandez made history by advancing to the third round of the women’s singles tournament, marking the best performance by a Canadian woman. Meanwhile, they secured victories in the women’s doubles.

Despite some defeats, the Canadian women’s basketball team is rallying for their upcoming match against Australia after a tough opening loss.

On the water, Canada’s rowing team is eyeing their next chance following a solid performance that takes them to the next stages in the event.
