Pittsburgh Steelers A.j. Brown Trade Rumors

PITTSBURGH, PA – The Pittsburgh Steelers improved to 4-1 after defeating the Cleveland Browns 23-9 in Week 6. This strong start to the 2025 NFL season raises questions about the team’s potential Super Bowl aspirations.

The Steelers’ early performance has sparked discussions about possible trades as the deadline approaches. Notably, Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports suggested the Steelers might target star wide receiver A.J. Brown from the Philadelphia Eagles. Brown has faced criticism for his lack of engagement with the Eagles, making him an intriguing option for Pittsburgh.

In exchange for Brown, the Steelers could offer tight end Pat Freiermuth, linebacker Alex Highsmith, and a third-round pick in 2026. Freiermuth, who has seen diminished roles this season, could provide the Eagles with dependable depth at tight end, while Highsmith has proven himself as an effective edge rusher.

“Why would the Steelers pursue Brown after acquiring DK Metcalf, Brown’s former college teammate?” Benjamin explained. “They’re committed to winning this year with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, and a 4-1 start indicates their aggressive approach to roster-building.”

The pairing of Brown and Metcalf would create a formidable receiver duo. Their complementary skills could significantly relieve pressure during games.

While the idea is intriguing, there’s no solid indication that the Steelers and Eagles are in active trade discussions. However, the potential for this deal would be something to monitor as the trade deadline nears.
