Stone Grissom, a former News 12 Long Island anchor, has transitioned from on-air reporting to leading the 52-person newsroom at WRGB/6, the CBS affiliate in Schenectady, New York. Grissom, who left News 12 in 2020, now oversees editorial operations at WRGB, focusing on impactful local journalism.

Grissom’s career shift began after a nine-year tenure at News 12, where he became a trusted on-air presence. He left to pursue management opportunities, first at WETN/18 in Elmira, New York, and later at KXII/12 near Dallas, Texas. His move to Texas was motivated by his wife, Dr. Maureen Grissom, a Wantagh native and professor at the Houston College of Medicine.

In an interview, Grissom explained his decision to step away from on-air roles.
