Suns Overcome Mavericks 123-114 in Dallas
DALLAS, TX — The Phoenix Suns defeated the Dallas Mavericks 123-114 on Wednesday night, marking their fourth consecutive win. Devin Booker led the Suns with 26 points and nine assists, while Grayson Allen contributed 23 points.
This game was the Mavericks’ first since the firing of general manager Nico Harrison, who faced scrutiny after a controversial trade in February. Dallas began strong, taking an 18-point lead at one point. However, they struggled to maintain momentum as the game progressed.
The Mavericks managed to cut an 18-point Suns lead down to just three with 1:48 remaining in the game. Allen’s scoop shot was ruled goaltending, and he secured the victory for the Suns with two late free throws.
The Suns improved to 7-5 with this win, having rebounded from a rough start to the season. They have won six of their last seven games. Conversely, the Mavericks dropped to 3-9, their worst start since the 2017-18 season.
Mavericks forward Jr. Flagg, who scored six points, left the game early due to a shoulder strain. The team also missed key players due to injuries, including one who has been sidelined for seven games.
Dallas had a promising start but could not capitalize on their early advantage. They missed many open shots and struggled with turnovers, leading to missed opportunities against the Suns.
In the upcoming games, the Suns will host the Indiana Pacers on Thursday, while the Mavericks will take on the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday.
