Tennessee Titans Hire Bengals Offensive Coordinator Brian Callahan as Head Coach
The Tennessee Titans have found their new head coach, as they plan to hire Brian Callahan, the current offensive coordinator for the Cincinnati Bengals. The news was reported by NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero. Callahan had interviewed with the Titans on Monday and decided to stay with the team, despite scheduled interviews with the Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers.
Callahan, who has been part of the Bengals’ coaching staff for the past three seasons, will be taking on his first NFL head coaching position. He is highly regarded for his work with quarterbacks, including Joe Burrow and his successful stint with Peyton Manning during the Denver Broncos’ Super Bowl victory in 2016. He will now have the task of developing Titans’ quarterback Drew Lock.
Meanwhile, the Bengals will be looking to replace Callahan as their offensive coordinator. One potential candidate is their current quarterbacks coach, Dan Pitcher, who is also scheduled for offensive coordinator interviews with the Patriots, Raiders, and Saints this week, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.
The Titans hope that Callahan can help turn around their struggling offense. The team has ranked low in both points scored and yards in the past two seasons. Additionally, the franchise is looking for a fresh start after two consecutive losing seasons under previous head coach Mike Vrabel.
With Callahan now in charge, the Titans aim to rebuild their team and become a competitive force in the AFC South once again.
