Texas A&M Advances to SEC Tournament Semifinals, Set to Face Florida Gators in Rematch
After a previous defeat in the SEC Championship game, Texas A&M has made it to the tournament’s semifinals for the third consecutive year, setting the stage for a showdown against Florida.
The Aggies, with a record of 20-13, secured their spot in the penultimate conference tourney game after triumphing over Ole Miss in the second round and claiming a 97-87 victory against Wildcats on Friday at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. Texas A&M is eyeing to become the first SEC team since the Wildcats to reach three straight finals, accomplished from 2014-18.
On February 3, the Aggies narrowly outlasted Florida, boasting a 67-66 win at the Reed Arena in College Station. The Gators, with a record of 24-10, earned their spot in the semifinals following a 102-88 win against Arkansas on Friday night.
As noted by 247Sports Texas A&M beat writer Carter Karels, the Aggies are primed for success on Saturday, viewing the matchup as a win-win scenario. A victory against Florida will add another Quad 1 win to their resume, while a loss may see their February triumph upgraded to Quad 1 status.
Regardless of the SEC Tournament outcome, Texas A&M appears to have secured a spot in the NCAA March Madness Tournament. The tip-off between the Aggies and Gators is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. CST at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.
