Texas Tech Hosts Baylor in High-Stakes Big 12 Basketball Showdown
LUBBOCK, Texas — The Texas Tech Red Raiders will face the Baylor Bears in a pivotal Big 12 Conference basketball matchup Tuesday night at United Supermarkets Arena. The game, set to tip off at 8 p.m. CT, will air on ESPN2 and stream on Fubo.
Texas Tech (15-6, 6-3 Big 12) enters the contest fresh off an 82-81 overtime victory over Houston on Saturday. The Red Raiders have been dominant at home, averaging over 84 points per game and ranking in the top 30 nationally in home effective field-goal percentage (58%).
Baylor (14-7, 6-4 Big 12) is coming off a dramatic 60-point second-half comeback to defeat Kansas on Saturday. However, the Bears face uncertainty as freshman standout VJ Edgecombe, who suffered an ankle injury in the Kansas game, remains questionable. Edgecombe’s absence would be a significant blow to Baylor’s defense, which has struggled on the road, allowing a 56.6% effective field-goal percentage.
“Expect a rowdy atmosphere in Lubbock,” said sports analyst Sam Avellone. “Texas Tech has been strong at home, and Baylor’s defensive struggles could be a major factor, especially if Edgecombe is out.”
The game marks the second meeting between the teams this season. Baylor won the first matchup 78-72 on January 10, but Texas Tech is seeking redemption on its home court. The Red Raiders have won eight of their last 10 games, while Baylor has secured three victories in its last four outings.
Both teams are jockeying for position in the competitive Big 12 standings as the regular season enters its final stretch. With March Madness looming, every game carries heightened significance.
