Texas Tech Quarterback Morton Injured in Game Against Kansas

LUBBOCK, Texas — Texas Tech‘s quarterback, Morton, left the game against Kansas on Saturday due to a right leg injury. The injury occurred during the second quarter when Morton was sacked, just after the Red Raiders took an 18-0 lead.
After being sacked, Morton managed to walk off the field but later went to the locker room for evaluation. He returned to the sideline after halftime wearing street clothes, confirming his absence for the remainder of the game.
Morton is currently the Big 12‘s third-leading passer, having started every game this season for Texas Tech. This isn’t the first time Morton has faced injury issues; he also left matches against Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Utah with leg and neck injuries earlier this season.
Before his exit against the Jayhawks, Morton completed 7 of 12 passes for a total of 91 yards and threw one touchdown. Redshirt freshman Will Hammond took over as quarterback, helping Texas Tech maintain a 21-17 lead at halftime.
