Thompson Warriors Face Central-Phenix City Red Devils in Semifinal Clash
Phenix City, Alabama — The defending AHSAA Class 7A state champion Thompson Warriors, boasting a record of 9-3, will travel to Phenix City this Friday night for a heavyweight semifinal showdown against the Central-Phenix City Red Devils, who have an impressive 11-1 record. This highly anticipated matchup will take place at Garrett-Harrison Stadium.
The clash features two football powerhouses in Alabama, each with championship histories. The Warriors enter the contest with momentum, having triumphed over Mary G. Montgomery 54-0 in last week’s quarterfinals. Meanwhile, the Red Devils secured their spot by defeating Fairhope 34-15.
Historically, the Warriors have an advantage in this rivalry, winning three of the last five meetings against the Red Devils, all of which occurred in state championship games in 2019, 2021, and 2022. Central-Phenix City aims to capitalize on their home-field advantage and avenge last year’s championship game defeat.
The opening kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT on Friday, November 21, with a live television broadcast available.
This semifinal matchup is not just significant for the teams but also for the passionate fans who follow high school football in Alabama. This game promises another thrilling chapter in one of the state’s most prestigious football rivalries.
