Tigers’ Homecoming in American League Division Series
(WXYZ) — The Detroit Tigers will return to Comerica Park for the American League Division Series (ALDS) following a decade-long gap from home playoff games. After a decisive 3-0 victory over the Cleveland Guardians on Tuesday, which leveled the ALDS series 1-1, the Tigers have an opportunity to clinch the series at their home ground by Thursday.
According to official schedules, Game 3 is slated for Wednesday, October 9th with the first pitch at 3:08 p.m., while Game 4 is scheduled for Thursday, October 10th, commencing at 6:08 p.m.
Ahead of Game 3, fans are invited to partake in a pregame block party outside Comerica Park on Witherell St., starting at 12 p.m. The event provides various attractions, including food offerings from Bert’s Marketplace and Yum Village, beverages courtesy of Detroit City Distillery, and a draft beer trailer. Additionally, there will be postseason merchandise for purchase, and entertainment will be provided by a DJ, alongside face painters, airbrush artists, and a live broadcast from 97.1 The Ticket.
For those attending, the gates will open at 1 p.m. on Wednesday and 4 p.m. on Thursday. Parking options are abundant, with spots available for pre-purchase in several areas surrounding Downtown Detroit. Street parking facilitated by the ParkDetroit App is another alternative. Furthermore, there are various bars in the locality offering shuttle services to and from the game, and the QLINE park-and-ride system offers parking in Midtown for $5, along with a complimentary QLINE ride. It is important to note that the Detroit People Mover remains non-operational due to ongoing track maintenance.
Regarding team strategy, the Tigers’ manager, AJ Hinch, has maintained a level of uncertainty over pitching arrangements for the upcoming games, humorously termed “pitching chaos” by the coach. For the Guardians, Alex Cobb is expected to start. Cobb has exhibited a strong season performance with a 2-1 record and a 2.76 ERA across three games.
