Tijjani Reijnders at the Center of Transfer Speculation: AC Milan, Liverpool, and Tottenham Interested
Tijjani Reijnders, the 26-year-old Dutch midfielder, has become a focal point in the latest transfer rumors involving several top European clubs. Currently playing for AC Milan, Reijnders has been impressive this season, appearing in 12 games and scoring crucial goals, including three in the last two matches against Club Brugge and Monza.
Tottenham Hotspur has expressed interest in acquiring Reijnders, but the club acknowledges that prying him away from AC Milan in the January transfer window will be challenging. This interest comes as Tottenham is also set to activate a one-year extension clause in the contract of forward Son Heung-min.
Liverpool, however, is considering a more complex deal involving Reijnders. AC Milan has reportedly made contact with Liverpool to propose a swap deal that would see struggling Liverpool attacker Federico Chiesa move to Milan in exchange for Reijnders. Chiesa, who joined Liverpool over the summer, has struggled to find his footing and has seen limited action under manager Arne Slot. This swap deal is seen as a more realistic target for Liverpool compared to their previous interest in Martin Zubimendi.
Reijnders’ versatility as a midfielder, capable of operating in various roles, makes him an attractive prospect for Liverpool. His ability to fit into different formations, including a 4-3-3 or a 4-2-3-1, aligns well with Slot’s tactical preferences. Additionally, the presence of his countryman Arne Slot at Liverpool could make Anfield a more appealing destination for Reijnders.
Despite the interest from other clubs, AC Milan is working to secure Reijnders’ future with a contract renewal. The proposed extension would run until 2030 and include a salary adjustment to 4-5 million euros per year. This move aims to deter other suitors, including Manchester City and FC Barcelona, who have also shown interest in the Dutch midfielder).
