Timberwolves Vs Wizards Basketball Game

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — The Minnesota Timberwolves held off a late rally by the Washington Wizards to secure a 120-109 victory Wednesday night at Target Center. Julius Randle led the Timberwolves with 32 points and 10 rebounds, helping his team win six of their last seven games.

Playing without Jaden McDaniels, who suffered a sprained left wrist, the Timberwolves built a lead as large as 27 points. Naz Reid contributed 28 points off the bench, but the Wizards attempted a comeback in the fourth quarter, narrowing the gap to 98-93 following a three-point shot by Delon Wright.

Despite the Wizards’ push, Randle’s dunk reclaimed the momentum for the Timberwolves, putting them ahead 105-96 with 5:51 remaining. The Wizards’ Kyle Kuzma responded with a jumper, reducing the deficit to 106-101, but Minnesota maintained their lead, capped by a three-pointer from Edwards that made it 116-106 with just under two minutes left.

The struggling Wizards, who have now lost twelve consecutive games, have started the season with a disappointing 1-13 record. Speculation arises about the job security of coach Brian Keefe, as they have yet to find a rhythm this season. The only NBA coach dismissed so far this year has been Willie Green after a poor start with his team.

The Timberwolves controlled the game’s early pace. Randle’s driving layup gave them a 32-24 advantage at the end of the first quarter. Minnesota surged further during the second quarter, leading 50-29 after Reid’s corner three from a no-look pass from Randle.

The Wizards began the second half with a 10-2 run and managed to close the score to 78-67 midway through the third. However, Minnesota’s second half adjustments proved effective as they regained control and secured the victory.

The Timberwolves will next face the Phoenix Suns on Friday as they continue their pursuit of playoff contention. The Wizards will visit the Toronto Raptors on the same night.
