Timberwolves Triumph Over Jazz 120-113 in Close Contest
SALT LAKE CITY — The Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Utah Jazz 120-113 on Monday night, marking their second victory over Utah in just four days. Anthony Edwards led the Timberwolves with 35 points, six assists, and six rebounds. This win continued Minnesota’s momentum, as they have now won three consecutive games and five of their last six.
Edwards’ performance was notable as he scored 21 of his points in the pivotal third quarter, extending his streak of scoring 30 or more points to nine consecutive games, the longest such stretch against the Jazz in NBA history. Julius Randle contributed significantly as well, posting 27 points, while Rudy Gobert added 14 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.
The Jazz had a competitive start, even holding a slight 30-26 lead at the end of the first quarter, thanks to a 10-0 run led by Keyonte George. However, the Timberwolves quickly countered, going on their own run to take a 47-46 lead late in the second quarter. Randle’s scoring helped fuel this push, and Minnesota went into halftime with the momentum.
Coming out for the third quarter, the Timberwolves dominated, outscoring the Jazz 33-9 during the first 8.5 minutes. Their largest lead reached 22 points midway through the period. Despite multiple efforts from the Jazz to reduce the deficit in the fourth quarter, they could only get within seven points late in the game.
Next, the Timberwolves will host the Sacramento Kings on Friday, while the Jazz will face the Indiana Pacers at home on Tuesday.
