Nashville, Tennessee — The Tennessee Titans face the New England Patriots this Sunday without key wide receivers Calvin Ridley and Bryce Oliver due to injuries. Their absence significantly increases the pressure on rookie Elic Ayomanor to contribute meaningfully to the Titans’ offense.

Ayomanor, a fifth-round draft pick from Stanford, has shown flashes of promise throughout the season. Although he scored touchdowns in back-to-back games earlier in the year, his performance has dipped recently. In the Titans’ last victory over the Las Vegas Raiders, he recorded only two catches for 18 yards.

Interim head coach Mike McCoy, making his debut this coming weekend, will focus on helping rookie quarterback Cam Ward‘s development. Ward has struggled under former coach Brian Callahan but needs to build chemistry with Ayomanor. The duo has connected effectively in previous games, particularly on off-script plays. “We really need that connection to come alive on the field,” Ayomanor said.

The Titans’ receiving corps has been underwhelming this season, and the loss of Ridley leaves Ayomanor as a pivotal player in the game plan. McCoy’s approach will likely emphasize Ayomanor’s role in the passing attack, but he will need consistent opportunities from offensive coordinator Bo Hardegree.

Ayomanor currently leads the Titans in both receptions (17) and touchdowns (2) for the season, with a total of 196 receiving yards. While these statistics aren’t outstanding, they highlight his potential in a struggling Titans offense.

As the Titans prepare for a challenging game against the Patriots, they will rely on Ayomanor’s abilities to make key plays in what many expect to be a tough matchup. “We’re counting on him to step up when it matters,” McCoy stated. The outcome could hinge on how well Ayomanor performs this Sunday.
