Top 2026 Basketball Prospect Commits to Duke University
Durham, North Carolina – Elite basketball prospect Cameron Williams announced his commitment to Duke University on Friday, securing the highest-ranked recruit for the Blue Devils in the 2026 class.
The 6-foot-11 forward from Saint Mary's High School in Phoenix chose Duke over Arizona and Texas. Williams visited Duke for the Countdown to Craziness event, where he was struck by Head Coach Jon Scheyer‘s approach and the support from the fans. “I felt Coach Scheyer was cool, normal and authentic in what he said and did,” Williams told ESPN. “The energy in that place was crazy, and it truly shows how much support the basketball team has from everyone,” he added.
Ranked as the No. 1 power forward and No. 3 overall prospect in the SC NEXT 100 for the 2026 class, Williams has shown remarkable skills on the court. During the Adidas 3SSB circuit, he averaged 15.4 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks per game while featuring a promising 3-point shooting percentage of 37%.
Williams has generated attention for his long-term potential due to his size, skill, and agility. His playing style is said to be reminiscent of previous NBA greats and he possesses the ability to be a switchable defender, effective in rim protection.
<p“Duke has everything I need to develop. They laid out a detailed plan on how I would fit,” Williams commented on his decision. He added that the team's five-out system suits his skill set, emphasizing versatility on the offensive end of the court.
This commitment marks the third for Duke during the early signing period, positioning them within the top 10 recruiting classes nationally. With Williams in the fold, the Blue Devils look to continue building a strong roster as they aim for another top recruiting spot. Williams joins fellow commitments, including another four-star center.
As the early signing period progresses, Duke remains a frontrunner for other high-caliber recruits. Attention now turns to top guard Jordan Smith, who is expected to announce his decision soon, also reportedly considering Duke.
