Top Recruit Olivia Vukosa Commits to UConn Women’s Basketball

STORRS, Conn. — Olivia Vukosa, the No. 3 recruit in the girls’ SC Next 100 Class of 2026, has committed to the University of Connecticut women’s basketball team, she announced on Tuesday.
Vukosa is the first commitment in the 2026 class for the reigning national champions. The Whitestone, New York, native chose UConn over South Carolina, Texas, Ohio State, and LSU.
Currently a senior at Christ the King High School in Queens, Vukosa cited the school’s strong ties to UConn as a significant factor in her decision. “I have seen Coach Mackey and Deluca prepare girls for college and seen Coach Geno prepare those girls for the next level,” Vukosa told ESPN.
She added, “Many of these girls have followed the path of Christ the King and UConn, and now I want to follow that legacy.” The location of UConn also contributed to her choice, as it allows her family to support her closely.
Vukosa, who stands 6-foot-4, has an impressive international playing background, representing Croatia in FIBA competitions. She averaged 15.6 points and 9.1 rebounds per game in the recent 2025 U20 EuroBasket B Division.
Her playing style is reminiscent of UConn’s former star Stefanie Dolson — both players are skilled passers and adept ball handlers. Vukosa is known for her effectiveness from the perimeter, as well as her strong post play.
As the current No. 3 in the rankings, she could potentially compete for the top position by the end of the high school season. Her commitment brings the top four recruits in the 2026 class off the board.
UConn remains in pursuit of other top recruits, including the No. 5 Jerzy Robinson and No. 10 Addison Bjorn. The Huskies, ranked No. 1 in the AP preseason Top 25, will begin their season against No. 4 on Nov. 4.
