Ou Football Game Traffic

The start of the college football season brings essential traffic and safety information from the Norman Police Department for drivers attending University of Oklahoma (OU) home games.

As the OU football team prepares to kick off the 2024 season against Temple on Friday at 6 p.m., the police have outlined important details regarding traffic management. The department will oversee traffic flow along Lindsey Street, from Interstate 35 to Elm Avenue, both before and after the game.

During the pregame period, Lindsey Street will be designated as one-way for eastbound traffic. After the game, it will switch to westbound traffic from Elm Avenue to Berry Road. Additionally, Brooks Street will also operate as one-way for eastbound traffic following the game, from Jenkins Avenue to Classen Boulevard.

Furthermore, police reported that Jenkins Avenue will be one-way for northbound traffic between Brooks and Boyd streets. Boyd Street will be closed to all vehicles between University Boulevard and Jenkins Avenue. White Street, Buchanan Avenue, and Asp Avenue in the Campus Corner area will also be closed before and after the game.

The road closures are set to commence four hours prior to the game, which means they will begin at 2 p.m. for Friday’s kickoff. These restrictions will remain in effect for several hours after the game concludes. A detailed map outlining these road closures will be available.

In terms of parking, officials have indicated that areas surrounding the OU campus and Campus Corner will have several barricaded locations that restrict all traffic and parking. It is important to note that all parking adjacent to the stadium is by permit only.

Parking options are available on various private properties near Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. However, police advise attendees to choose trustworthy parking areas due to reported incidents of unauthorized individuals charging for parking on private property they do not own or lease. They also emphasize the importance of not blocking sidewalks.
