Tragic Passing of Morgan Academy Quarterback Caden Tellier
Morgan Academy mourns the loss of Caden Tellier, a 16-year-old junior and quarterback, who tragically died following a brain injury sustained during a football game on Friday night.
The unfortunate incident occurred during the third quarter of a home opener against Southern Academy, after which Tellier was airlifted to the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital. Headmaster Bryan Oliver confirmed the news of his passing on Saturday.
In a heartfelt statement, Oliver expressed the profound sorrow experienced by the school community, describing Caden as a student, athlete, and dedicated Christ follower who brought light to those around him. “Caden will never be forgotten for who he was and what he means to Morgan Academy,” he stated.
The Tellier family also shared their grief on social media, stating, “Our boy, Caden Tellier has met Jesus face to face.” They highlighted Caden’s kindness and generosity, while also indicating that he would continue to impact lives through organ donation.
In light of this tragedy, Morgan Academy announced the suspension of all athletic activities for the upcoming week. The school intends to provide a supportive environment for students, arranging for counselors and pastors to be available on campus.
Public and private schools throughout the community, including long-time rivals of Morgan Academy, have extended their condolences and support to the Tellier family during this difficult time. The Alabama Independent Schools Association also called for prayers for the Morgan Academy community.
