Pirate Software Twitch Streamer World Of Warcraft

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Twitch streamer Jason “Pirate Software” Hall is under fire after a controversial incident during a World of Warcraft (WoW) Classic Hardcore dungeon run led to the in-game deaths of two players. The drama unfolded on Jan. 13, 2025, during a Dire Maul North dungeon exploration with guildmates from the OnlyFangs super guild.

Pirate Software, playing as a Mage, was accused of prioritizing his survival over aiding his teammates, Snupy and Sara, who died during the encounter. Despite having access to mana gems to restore his mana, Pirate Software claimed low mana prevented him from providing support. His decision to flee from mobs instead of using crowd-control abilities sparked outrage within the WoW community.

Fellow streamer Yamato confronted Pirate Software, urging him to take accountability for his actions. However, Pirate Software left the call without addressing the criticism, further fueling the backlash. Prominent WoW content creators, including former Guild Master Thomas “Sodapoppin” and world record holder JokerdTV, have since weighed in on the controversy.

During a Twitch livestream, Sodapoppin criticized Pirate Software’s gameplay, stating, “Those two people did not need to die. Pirate absolutely could have saved them if he played his class to a basic level, which he claims to know how to do.” JokerdTV went further, calling Pirate Software a “fraud” and questioning his claims of having worked on WoW during his time at Blizzard Entertainment. “I don’t even believe for a second he coded anything in this game,” JokerdTV said.

On the other hand, Zack “Asmongold” defended Pirate Software, arguing that the streamer’s decision to run was justified after being told to do so by his teammates. “For me, such a command means ‘run away as much as you can,'” Asmongold explained during a broadcast on his alternate Twitch channel.

The incident comes amid a leadership shakeup in the OnlyFangs guild, with Tyler1 taking over as Guild Master after Sodapoppin’s character died in-game. The drama has reignited debates about accountability and teamwork in the WoW Classic Hardcore community.
