UConn Fans Urged to Pack Rentschler Field for Key Game Against Duke
East Hartford, Connecticut – UConn football coach Dan Hurley is calling on fans to create a packed house at Rentschler Field on Saturday, November 8, at 3:30 p.m. The Huskies (6-3) will face the Duke Blue Devils, marking one of the most significant games of the season.
Hurley, known for leading UConn men’s basketball to national glory, issued a heartfelt plea to fans on social media, stating, ‘This Saturday at 3:30, Rentschler better be sold out and it better be rocking.’ He emphasized the importance of support from fans, noting the team’s recent achievements, including a bowl win last year in the Fenway Bowl against North Carolina.
The Huskies are currently bowl eligible, following a decisive victory over Alabama Birmingham that secured their spot. Rising stars like quarterback Joe Fagnano, who boasts 2,529 passing yards and 22 touchdown passes without an interception, and wide receiver Skyler Bell, with 74 catches for 994 yards and 11 touchdowns, have energized the team.
Moreover, UConn aims to improve its home record, having won all four games at Rentschler Field this season. Hurley noted the significance of being competitive against ACC opponents like Duke, who currently stands at 5-3 and is known for their robust offense, averaging over 324 yards passing per game.
The Huskies have faced tough competition in the past and showed promise during last year’s matchup against Duke, nearly completing a comeback that ended in a narrow loss. UConn linebacker Kelechi Diomande expressed that a victory this weekend would raise their profile and garner more recognition.
With favorable weather expected on Saturday, Hurley’s message to fans is clear: their presence can significantly impact the game. ‘These men are delivering, you better be there and it better be rocking,’ he stated.
The game will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network, with radio coverage available through the UConn Sports Network. Fans are encouraged to rally behind the team as they strive for another significant victory.
