MONTREAL, Canada – An exciting women’s flyweight battle is set for UFC 315, where former champion Alexa Grasso will face rising contender Natalia Silva. The event will take place on May 10 at the Bell Centre, marking the UFC’s first return to Montreal in a decade.

The promotion confirmed the bout on Tuesday through its Canadian broadcast partner, Sportsnet. Grasso (16-4-1 MMA, 8-4-1 UFC) and Silva (18-5-1 MMA, 6-0 UFC) are anticipated to deliver a thrilling three-round contest that could serve as a title eliminator, with rumors of Valentina Shevchenko facing Manon Fiorot around the same timeline.

Grasso, 31, has not fought against anyone other than current champion Shevchenko since winning the 125-pound title at UFC 285 in 2023. She famously submitted Shevchenko to capture the championship and later fought her to a split draw during the inaugural Noche UFC event. However, Grasso lost her title in their trilogy bout at UFC 306 in September 2024.

On the other hand, Silva, 28, has made a notable ascent in the flyweight rankings since her debut in June 2022, boasting an unbeaten 6-0 record in the UFC. Her latest victory came against former strawweight champion Jessica Andrade in a Fight of the Night performance, solidifying her position as a serious contender.

A victory for Silva against Grasso would significantly boost her prospects for a title shot, as she continues her swift rise in the flyweight division. Shevchenko is expected to defend her title next against Fiorot at some point in 2025.

Another anticipated matchup on the UFC 315 card includes a middleweight clash between Quebec’s own Marc-Andre Barriault and Brazil’s Bruno Silva, adding local excitement to the event. Barriault has not fought in his home province since 2018, having a rough year in 2024 with a 0-3 record.

The event has sparked high expectations among fans as UFC 315 promises competitive matchups and the thrill of live action. The organization has yet to announce a main event for the card, but the inclusion of Grasso vs. Silva already adds a layer of intrigue to the lineup.

As UFC 315 approaches, both fighters are eager to make a significant statement on the international stage in this pivotal matchup within the women’s flyweight division.
