Universal Orlando Resort to Prohibit Smoking in All Theme Parks

ORLANDO, Fla. — Universal Orlando Resort is rumored to implement a complete ban on smoking in its theme parks effective May 15, 2025. This change will include the removal of all designated smoking areas, which were previously limited to specific locations within each park.
Universal Team Members have been informed of the upcoming policy shift, with several sharing this news on social media platforms. The current smoking areas include Gramercy Park in Universal Studios Florida, the lagoon in the Port of Entry at Islands of Adventure, and Wave Village at Volcano Bay. Notably, Epic Universe also features a smoking area near the Stardust Racers attraction.
The shift in policy is a significant change from previous years, when Universal had allowed smoking in select areas. Following a reduction in smoking locations in 2022, the parks managed only one location per park. The new reports indicate this will no longer be an option for guests wishing to smoke.
According to these reports, the ban will extend to e-cigarettes and vaporizers, ensuring a smoke-free environment across all Universal theme parks. Currently, the Universal Orlando Resort website and apps have not updated their policies to reflect these imminent changes.
While other resorts, including Walt Disney World and Disneyland, have moved their designated smoking areas outside of park entrances, there has been no official word on whether Universal plans to do the same. As such, questions remain regarding the status of smoking locations in Universal CityWalk, which were not mentioned in the reports.
