Vanderbilt Basketball Exhibition Game

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt men’s basketball is set to host Virginia for an exhibition game at Memorial Gymnasium on Thursday, October 15, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. The Commodores enter the game with a mix of returning veterans and new talent, including returning players Devin McGlockton, Tyler Nickel, and Tyler Tanner, along with eight transfers and three freshmen.

This matchup will showcase a unique NBA-style format, featuring four 12-minute quarters and dynamic fan experiences, including the opportunity to see head coach Mark Byington mic’d up, as well as halftime access and on-court challenges for fans to influence the game.

Tickets for the exhibition are priced at $10, with men’s basketball season ticket holders able to retain their reserved seats. Free parking is available in the 25th Avenue Garage for attendees.

The game will not be broadcast online, making attendance the only way for fans to catch their first look at the Commodores’ new squad. Vanderbilt aims to bounce back after a 20-13 season that ended in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Coach Byington expressed enthusiasm for the mix of returning players and newcomers, believing this combination can significantly enhance the team’s performance from the previous year. He highlighted Tanner’s impressive summer training with USA Basketball as a potentially pivotal factor in his development.

During the game, fans can anticipate standout performances, particularly from transfer players Tyler Harris from Washington and Duke Miles from Oklahoma, both of whom have demonstrated scoring ability during practice and are expected to play key roles this season.

Vanderbilt’s exhibition game provides both teams with a valuable opportunity to assess their strengths and weaknesses before the official season begins. In addition to the game against Virginia, Vanderbilt will host another exhibition against UAB on October 23 and faces Lipscomb for their first official game on November 3.
