Varun Chakravarthy Cricket Match Performance

Dubai, UAE – India’s leg-spinner Varun Chakravarthy showcased his skills during the Asia Cup match against Bangladesh on September 25, 2025, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Despite conceding 21 runs in his first two overs, the 34-year-old bounced back, taking two wickets and ending with figures of 2 for 29 in four overs, contributing to India’s 41-run victory.

Chakravarthy, playing in his 22nd T20I, cleaned up Shamim Hossain in a critical moment and stated that he persisted in his quest for wickets, even after a challenging start. “In the PowerPlay, the only aim is to look for wickets,” he said during a post-match press conference. He emphasized the importance of adapting to the pitch conditions as the game progresses. “Once the field spreads, it’s getting better for spinners,” he added.

His performance alongside Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah helped secure India’s place in the Asia Cup final. Yadav’s bowling figures were impressive, allowing just 18 runs in four overs with three wickets, while Bumrah supported Chakravarthy with two wickets for the same number of runs.

Chakravarthy also discussed his ongoing efforts to improve all aspects of his game, including batting and fielding. “After the IPL, I played in the Tamil Nadu Premier League and took a one-week break to practice,” he explained, highlighting his dedication to enhancing his overall performance.

With four wickets in four matches this tournament, Varun Chakravarthy is set to play again on September 26 against Sri Lanka in the final Super 4s game. He remains focused on his attack-oriented strategy, noting that maximizing wicket chances is key to his role within the bowling lineup.
