Kamala Harris Howard Stern Interview

In a recent appearance on Howard Stern‘s radio show, Vice President Kamala Harris candidly shared her perspective on the upcoming presidential election and its potential ramifications for the United States. During the conversation, which aired on Tuesday, Harris emphasized the high stakes involved, describing the election as critical to the future of the nation’s democracy, national security, and citizens’ basic needs.

“I literally lose sleep and have been over what is at stake in this election,” Harris revealed to Stern, underscoring her concerns about the national implications. Stern, known for his provocative style, asked Harris whether she would feel safe if former President Donald Trump, the presumptive nominee for the Republican party, won the election. In response, Harris asserted her dedication to preventing Trump’s victory, highlighting a coalition-building effort aimed at uniting various political affiliations.

Harris stated, “We are building a coalition of Democrats, independents, Republicans, Libertarians—people from all walks of life—who are coming together to say this election is about putting country before party.” The Vice President argued that Trump’s return to power could seriously undermine American democracy and international relations, drawing particular attention to his perceived admiration for authoritarian leaders like Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“This is about asking: Do we want a president who will abide by the oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States, or someone who is constantly flattered by Vladimir Putin of Russia?” Harris said of Trump. She accused Trump of preferring the company of “strongmen” over democratic allies.

The interview with Stern also touched on more personal topics, including Harris’ family, her husband Doug Emhoff, and her interests such as F1 racing and education. Notably, Harris mentioned a new Medicare benefit aimed at aiding the “sandwich generation”—those caring for both children and elderly parents. Stern shared his personal connection to the topic, referencing his 97-year-old mother and the financial strain that elder care can impose.

This media engagement is part of Harris’ broader strategy shift towards more public appearances and interviews, including a recent visit to “The View” and a scheduled appearance on Stephen Colbert‘s late-night show. This pivot comes amidst close polling figures against Trump, with a recent poll showing Harris in a marginal lead of 47 percent over Trump’s 44 percent, keeping the competition highly contested.

Howard Stern’s interview thus provided a platform for Vice President Harris to articulate her positions and concerns as the election approaches, marking a significant moment in her current media outreach efforts.
