NEW YORK, April 18, 2025 — The Monster Energy AMA Supercross series is heating up, with intense action expected as Round 14 takes place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on Saturday. Points leader Cooper Webb of Red Bull KTM enters the weekend with a slim margin over Chase Sexton of Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing, who trails by 12 points with only four rounds remaining.

The competition in the 450SX class has tightened, particularly following last weekend’s results in Philadelphia, where Webb and Sexton finished first and second, respectively. Webb needs to finish ahead of Sexton in just one of the remaining rounds, or hope Sexton falters in another round. “It’s all about managing the race and staying consistent as we push for the championship,” Webb said during a pre-race press conference.

As the title fight intensifies, interesting trivia surfaces regarding past champions who won on multiple brands. Both riders are vying to join an elite group, as Webb has previously secured titles on KTM, and Sexton on Honda.

Compounding the suspense is the upcoming return to Pittsburgh for the first time since 1983, where favorable weather is projected for the weekend race. However, Saturday’s race will be a day event, a twist that could affect outcomes as riders adapt their strategies to fit the daytime temperatures.

In the 250SX East Division, the battle is equally fierce. Previous points leader Chance Hymas finds himself only two points behind the competitors from Kawasaki and Husqvarna. With three rounds to go, the situation remains precarious. “Every race is going to matter now. It’s about putting in a solid performance each time out,” Hymas noted ahead of the East Rutherford event.

This weekend also promises thrilling racing dynamics, particularly with East Rutherford’s unique track features. The back-to-back whoops section could become a deciding factor, favoring riders with impressive blitzing capabilities. These competitors, mastering the technique, will look to utilize momentum effectively. “Entering with speed will be key. Those who hesitate will fall behind,” said veteran racer Ken Roczen.

Outside of the racing, the sport faces pressing issues, such as the ongoing insurance crisis affecting event promoters and landowners. Recently, Arkansas passed Act 312, establishing inherent risk statutes for off-road motorcyclists, a move praised by the AMA. This legislation aims to provide both riders and property owners protection amid growing concerns over liability. “The law creates a safer environment for riders and encourages more landowners to host events,” AMA officials stated.

In addition to the high stakes in the east, round 4 of the FIM Motocross Championship (MXGP) is unfolding across the globe in Frauenfeld, Switzerland. The MXGP series witnessed thrilling victories last weekend, with Tim Gajser and Romain Febvre showcasing historic performances. Fan support remains strong, signaling a robust future for the sport.

As the season progresses, fans eagerly await the unfolding storylines leading to the championship conclusion, while riders prepare for the challenges ahead. Webb and Sexton’s rivalry, along with changing dynamics in the 250 class, ensure that every race will be closely monitored by enthusiasts and stakeholders alike.
