Wests Tigers Beat Rabbitohs In Jersey Flegg Cup

The Wests Tigers celebrated a thrilling win at Campbelltown on Saturday, topping the Rabbitohs with a 36-20 score in the Jersey Flegg Cup.

The Tigers kicked things off strong, leading 20-14 at halftime. Chris Faagutu made quite an impression with a fantastic hat-trick, a rare feat for a front-rower.

Things got rolling when Dane Towns scored a try for the Rabbitohs in the corner. However, Wests quickly leveled up with Max Taotua’s try, thanks to a well-placed long ball from Iverson Matai.

With some solid teamwork, Tom Fisher sent Faagutu bursting through to score, giving the Tigers an edge. The Rabbitohs pushed back soon after, though, with Bailey Smith recovering a fumble to add another try for his team.

Palu Tausala then added to Souths’ tally with a try under the posts, but the Wests Tigers weren’t down for long. Te Umuariki Heremia-Tukere broke through and passed to Max Liles, who scored effortlessly.

In a moment of creativity, Jared Haywood played a narrow short-side on the last tackle, leading to Heremia-Tukere and ultimately Haywood’s four-pointer. The Tigers were back in control.

After halftime, Archie Donnelly nabbed a try for Souths, but it was all about Taotua as he zipped down the sideline for another score. Chris Faagutu dominated close to the line, crashing over for his second and third tries to seal the game for the Tigers.

Zak Clarke capped off the match with his conversions, finalizing the score at 36-20. It was a proud afternoon for the Wests Tigers and their supporters at Campbelltown.
