Widespread 911 and Routine Call Disruptions Reported Across Connecticut
On Tuesday afternoon, multiple police departments across Connecticut reported significant issues with 911 calls and routine phone lines. The disruptions affected various areas of the state, causing concerns for public safety and emergency response.
In Clinton, police announced that a cellular outage was impacting 911 and routine calls to their dispatch center, as well as other dispatch centers throughout the state. However, landlines were still operational. AT&T and the state’s 911 provider are working to resolve the issue, according to Clinton police.
In East Hartford, the routine non-emergency line for police and fire departments was out of service due to a carrier issue. Residents were advised to call (860) 291-7101 for non-emergencies and to use 911 for emergency situations.
Hartford police reported that 911 and the main police number were working intermittently, indicating a statewide problem. Similar issues were reported in other towns, including Bloomfield, where the routine call line was down, and Simsbury, where routine phone lines were experiencing technical difficulties but the 911 system was functioning normally.
West Hartford police noted that Verizon Wireless and landline services were not working for 911 calls, while T-Mobile and AT&T appeared to be operational for emergency calls. All routine lines in West Hartford were also down.
The widespread disruptions highlight the critical need for reliable communication systems in emergency services and the ongoing efforts by service providers and authorities to address these issues promptly.
