Cincinnati, Ohio – WireCam is enhancing game presentations on FanDuel Sports Network’s MLB broadcasts this season. The camera system, which has completed its stint at Great American Ballpark for Cincinnati Reds games, is now headed to American Family Field for the Milwaukee Brewers broadcasts until mid-June.

The WireCam, controllable by a single operator, aims to provide unique visual experiences for viewers. Ed Placey, executive producer for MLB at FanDuel Sports Network, expressed excitement about incorporating WireCam. “We are very happy to have WireCam in position to enhance games with a number of our teams thus far,” he said. “We’re just finishing up a couple of homestands in Cincinnati, then off to Milwaukee.”

Future placements of WireCam will depend on team interest and venue compatibility. Placey mentioned monitoring pennant races for potential installations, highlighting interest in visiting first-place Detroit soon. “It has been good exposing our directors to more of these opportunities to enhance their shows with a unique tool that is starting to turn heads in baseball,” he added.

For FanDuel Sports Network, the WireCam provides added value when two teams are playing against each other, allowing both home and away broadcasts to benefit. “That has been a factor in decision-making as well,” Placey noted. “Expanding our production capabilities continues to be at the forefront of our mission to deliver a new standard for teams and their hometown fans.”

The WireCam system has gained traction in MLB broadcasts nationwide. ROOT Sports was the first regional sports network to implement the system for Seattle Mariners games in 2020. Several teams, including the Los Angeles Dodgers and Texas Rangers, now utilize WireCam to elevate viewer engagement.

WireCam is typically installed along the third-base line to capture crowd reactions as players approach home plate. Installation involves scouting the venue and obtaining stadium approval, with DEFY, the vendor responsible for WireCam, completing the setup in hours. The waterproof design ensures durability, while intuitive controls simplify operation for the single operator.

The operator controls WireCam with foot pedals for speed and has their hands free for pan, tilt, zoom, and focus adjustments, optimizing the viewing experience for fans.
