Yorkshire's Fin Bean Aims For England Recognition After Successful Training Camp

Yorkshire‘s promising cricketer, Fin Bean, is setting his sights on earning a spot in the England squad after a successful stint at a training camp in India.

The 21-year-old left-hander from Harrogate recently participated in a 10-day batting camp in Mumbai, where he honed his skills alongside four other talented young batters under the watchful eyes of the England management.

Bean’s standout performance in the 2023 season, where he scored 983 Championship runs including three centuries, has not only earned him recognition at the national level but has also solidified his partnership with fellow opener Adam Lyth for Yorkshire.

While thrilled with the England selectors’ acknowledgment, Bean remains steadfast in his commitment to propelling Yorkshire towards promotion back to Division One, emphasizing that his primary focus is on performing for his county.

Reflecting on his experience in Mumbai, Bean highlighted the valuable opportunity to face a variety of bowling challenges and work on different aspects of his game, particularly tackling spin bowlers, a skill crucial for excelling in shorter formats of the game.

Having already shown his prowess in first-class cricket, Bean is eager to translate his success to white-ball cricket as well, recognizing the importance of versatility across formats to further his career.

Following his outstanding performance last season, where he fell just short of the 1,000-run mark, Bean was awarded Yorkshire’s Members’ Player of the Year, indicating a strong start to his professional career and setting a benchmark for the upcoming season.

Like several of his Yorkshire teammates who have been honing their skills overseas during the winter, including Dom Leech, Matthew Revis, and George Hill in Australia and New Zealand, Bean is focused on contributing to Yorkshire’s quest for Championship promotion in the upcoming season.

With a positive atmosphere within the team and a fresh start after last year’s points deduction, Bean and his fellow Yorkshire players are determined to make a mark in the upcoming English summer and bring success to the county.
