Munjya: A Descent Into Supernatural Comedy With A Spooky Twist

The latest entry into the horror comedy genre, ‘Munjya’, directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, takes viewers on a journey into the supernatural folklore of Maharashtra‘s Konkan region.

Set in Pune, the story follows a young college student named Bittu who, along with his mother Pammi and grandmother, unravels the mysteries surrounding a malevolent spirit named Munjya.

Bittu’s deep-rooted feelings for his childhood friend Bella, who is romantically involved with Kuba, intertwine with the haunting presence of Munjya, leading to unexpected and often humorous encounters.

The screenplay, crafted by Niren Bhatt and Yogesh Chandekar, sets the stage for a blend of horror and comedy, with a special mention to Saurabh Goswami’s captivating cinematography that adds to the eerie atmosphere.

Abhay Verma shines in his portrayal of Bittu, capturing the nuances of fear and courage in the face of supernatural occurrences, while Mona Singh delivers a standout performance as Bittu’s protective mother, Pammi.

The film introduces quirky characters like Diljit, played by Taran Singh, and the enigmatic Hand of God, Elvis Karim Prabhakar, portrayed by S Sathyaraj, adding depth to the narrative.

In a nutshell, ‘Munjya’ offers viewers a unique mix of love, obsession, possession, and black magic, woven into a storyline that balances the elements of horror and comedy.
