Following a remarkable opening at the global box office, the much-anticipated movie Kalki 2898 AD, starring Prabhas, experienced a significant decline in its earnings on the second day of its release. The film, which initially raked in Rs 191.5 crore, faced a 43% dip in collections, accumulating Rs 54 crore on its second day in India alone, as reported by the prominent box office tracker Sacnilk.

The movie’s performance on the second day exhibited a sharp decrease, particularly in its Telugu version which saw a significant drop from Rs 65.8 crore on the first day to Rs 25.65 crore on the second day, despite maintaining a solid 65.02% occupancy rate. On the other hand, the Hindi release maintained stability with collections of Rs 22.5 crore on both days.

Released in various languages including Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam, Kalki 2898 AD showcased diverse results across different regions. In Tamil, the movie saw a slight decline from its initial collection of Rs 4.5 crore to Rs 3.5 crore on the second day. Meanwhile, Kannada experienced a modest rise from Rs 30 lakh to Rs 35 lakh. In Malayalam, the film gathered a total of Rs 4.4 crore over two days, with Rs 2.2 crore on the first day and Rs 2 crore on the second day, cumulating in Rs 149.3 crore nett in India over the two-day period.

The impressive opening of Kalki 2898 AD surpassed the global debut of KGF 2, securing the third position behind the blockbusters RRR and Baahubali 2 in terms of opening day collections. While Baahubali 2 and RRR had accumulated Rs 382 crore and Rs 350 crore respectively at this stage, Kalki 2898 AD is set to challenge these records. Internationally, the film grossed $7 million in North America, showcasing its global appeal.

Despite the drop in collections on the second day, expectations remain high for Kalki 2898 AD, with speculations of a groundbreaking weekend collection of Rs 500 crore. Boasting a star-studded cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani, the film also features appearances by industry stalwarts like SS Rajamouli, Dulquer Salmaan, Mrunal Thakur, and Vijay Deverakonda.
