CBS Cancels Popular Shows Ahead of 2025-2026 Season

NEW YORK, NY – CBS has canceled several popular television shows ahead of the 2025-2026 season, including fan favorites and new series.
The network confirmed on April 24 that “Poppa's House,” “The Summit,” “Blue Bloods,” “FBI: Most Wanted,” “FBI: International,” and “S.W.A.T.” will not be returning. “Poppa’s House,” featuring Damon Wayans and Damon Wayans Jr., aired for just one season and was reported to be CBS’ least-watched scripted program of the 2024-2025 season. Wayans expressed gratitude for the experience, stating, “My heart is full as I say thank you to every single person who made Poppa’s House such a meaningful experience.”
Similarly, “The Summit,” a reality competition hosted by Manu Bennett, also ended after one season without renewal. The other four shows had varying lengths of successful runs, with “FBI: International” concluding after four seasons, “FBI: Most Wanted” after six, and “S.W.A.T.” and “Blue Bloods” with eight and fourteen seasons, respectively.
Star of “Blue Bloods,” Tom Selleck, voiced his feelings about the show’s cancellation, saying, “I’m kind of frustrated… My frustration is the show was always taken for granted because it performed from the get-go.” Selleck highlighted the show’s consistent ranking in viewer ratings.
Despite their cancellation, CBS has confirmed the renewal of several other shows for the upcoming season, including the popular “NCIS” series and the fantasy sitcom “Ghosts.” Fans of “Blue Bloods” are holding out hope as a spin-off series, “Boston Blue,” featuring Donnie Wahlberg reprising his role as Danny Reagan, is set to premiere.
As CBS makes these major decisions, many viewers are left reflecting on what could have been for these series, especially after their devoted followings.
