Richard Gere Family Moving To Spain

NEW YORK, NY — Richard Gere, the star of “The Agency,” and his wife, Alejandra Silva, are planning a move back to the United States after living in Spain for a short while. The couple, along with their two sons, Alexander, 6, and James, 4, made the trans-Atlantic move at the end of 2024.

Alejandra shared their plans during the 2025 Gala: Carnaval in New York City. She expressed their desire to live in Spain for a few years before returning. “For a few years [we’ll live in Spain], and then come back. But we’re always coming back,” she said.

Gere, 75, mentioned that they would still be returning to the U.S. during summers to accommodate their children’s camp schedules. “We just have to balance our lives there and here,” Alejandra added, reflecting on her connection to family in Spain and her longing for the U.S.

Gere first announced their move to Spain last spring, becoming excited about living in a new culture. “For me, going to Madrid is going to be a great adventure because I have never lived full time outside the United States,” he said. He believes living in Spain will also be beneficial for their boys.

“My kids are bilingual, so they’re going to flourish there,” he noted during an appearance on “The Tonight Show.” The couple planned to spend holidays in Spain, including Thanksgiving, and now is looking forward to celebrating Christmas there.

Alejandra recently posted on Instagram about their Christmas tree decoration, reflecting on the joy of finally spending Christmas in Spain. She expressed excitement about building family traditions there, especially after the passing of her grandmother.

In a conversation about their happiness abroad, Gere stated, “We are happier than ever. She, because she is home and I because, if she is happy, I am happy.” Alejandra described their bond saying, “We are like soulmates. We see the world in the same way.”

As they navigate their life in Spain, the couple continues to cherish their ties to the U.S. and their extended family. “It’s the same people. Just a different place. Spain’s beautiful,” their son Homer, 25, reflected about his parents’ relocation.
