Flash Flood Warning Issued for South-Central Pennsylvania Counties

HARRISBURG, Pennsylvania – The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for several counties in South-Central Pennsylvania as thunderstorms continue to produce heavy rainfall. The warning is in effect until 12:45 a.m. Tuesday.
At 9:38 p.m., Doppler radar indicated significant rain across Western Adams County, Southwestern Cumberland County, and Southeastern Franklin County. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have already been recorded, with additional rainfall of the same amount expected shortly.
This hazardous weather condition is causing ongoing flash flooding in the region. Affected areas include small creeks and streams, urban settings, highways, streets, and underpasses as well as other low-lying and poorly draining locations. Some specific communities at risk include Waynesboro, Shippensburg, Guilford, Carroll Valley, Fayetteville, and more.
Officials urge residents to exercise caution, especially at night when it can be harder to see flooding dangers. They advise turning around when encountering flooded roads, as many flood-related fatalities occur in vehicles.
The National Weather Service emphasizes that low water crossings may be particularly dangerous during heavy rainfall. Residents are advised to find alternate routes and stay alert for updates on weather conditions.
