Dr. Watson Cbs Series Finale

PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania — Dr. John Watson returns to the screen, taking on new challenges at the Holmes Clinic of Diagnostic Medicine. The CBS show reimagines the iconic character as a contemporary doctor leading investigations into rare medical disorders.

In a unique blend of medicine and mystery, the show recently wrapped its first season, featuring a two-part finale that aired on May 4 and May 11, 2025. Here, Watson confronted his arch-nemesis, James Moriarty, who is responsible for Sherlock Holmes‘s presumed death. Watson’s team navigates investigations within the hospital and beyond, a balance series star Morris Chestnut described as being ‘doc-detectives.’

Executive producer Craig Sweeny hinted at significant developments in the season finale, stating, ‘By the end, every member of Watson’s team is permanently changed.’ He added that not all doctors would return for season two.

The series has been renewed for a second season, joining other returning CBS hits like ‘FBI’ and ‘Survivor.’ Although a release date has yet to be confirmed, the show is expected to return airing on Sundays at 10 p.m. next year.

While it remains uncertain which cast members will return, fans can expect Chestnut to reprise his role. The first season featured actors Eve Harlow, Peter Mark Kendall, and Randall Park, among others.

The show’s storyline opens with an epic scene at Reichenbach Falls, where Holmes and Moriarty appeared to meet their end. As Moriarty survives, viewers are left questioning the future involvement of Holmes. Sweeny maintained, ‘My belief is that Holmes is gone,’ signaling that his return isn’t in the immediate plans.

‘Watson’ currently airs on CBS and is also available for streaming. With the first season complete and a new one on the horizon, fans eagerly await the next chapter.
