Knicks Defeat Celtics to Advance to Eastern Conference Finals

NEW YORK — The New York Knicks secured a decisive victory over the Boston Celtics during Game 6 of the Eastern Conference semifinals at Madison Square Garden on Friday night. With the 38-point win, the Knicks advanced to the Eastern Conference finals for the first time since 2000.
Despite doubts surrounding their ability to close out the series, the Knicks delivered a strong performance. Captain Julius Randle acknowledged that the team needed to improve its communication and sense of urgency after a disappointing loss in Game 5. “We watched the film, and we were kind of disgusted with our communication,” he said.
New York led the game from the beginning, particularly shining in the second quarter where they outscored Boston 38-17. This performance allowed them to build an impressive 27-point lead by halftime. The Knicks’ defense was highlighted by a powerful block from guard Josh Hart that energized the home crowd.
Coach Tom Thibodeau praised the team’s effort, calling this performance possibly their best showing in the playoffs. He noted, “I thought from start to finish that we were terrific.”
The game saw significant contributions from four New York players, including Jalen Brunson and Anunoby, each scoring over 20 points. The victory triggered celebrations among Knicks’ fans, who poured into the streets outside the arena.
As the players celebrated the win, they also expressed their awareness of the significance of the moment. Forward Mikal Bridges stated, “I just think there’s still more to go. We’re not done.” The Knicks now prepare to face off against the Miami Heat, who ousted them in last year’s playoffs.
