NEW YORK, NY — Fans of “Saturday Night Live” are buzzing with speculation that hosts Colin Jost and Michael Che might depart after the show’s landmark 50th season ends on May 17. Neither host has confirmed these rumors, though hints of an exit have emerged.

Michael Che stirred speculation during a February stand-up performance at the University of Rochester, stating, “I’m done, it’s over for me. It’s been so much fun. It’s a little emotional, it’s bittersweet.” While some interpreted this as a joke, fans are already concerned about a potential transition in the show’s lineup.

Jost and Che have anchored the “Weekend Update” segment together since 2014, marking them as the longest-running duo in this role. Fans on platforms like Reddit have pointed out that with several cast members expected to leave, the upcoming finale may be a fitting sendoff for Jost, especially with his wife, actress Scarlett Johansson, set to host the final episode.

Johansson, who married Jost in 2020, will introduce the show alongside musical guest Bad Bunny. Many fans think her hosting position is a sign that Jost’s time on “SNL” is concluding. One Reddit user noted, “There’s expected to be a decent turnover after the 50th season of people who stayed to be a part of it.”

During a recent appearance on “The Howard Stern Show,” both Jost and Che acknowledged the challenges of their long tenure, with Che expressing a longing for stand-up and Jost admitting, “It’s hard to keep doing it.”

As speculation continues, the excitement for the season finale remains high. Fans express a mix of hope and sadness at the thought of their beloved hosts stepping away from the iconic late-night show. The finale airs on NBC on May 17 at 11:30 p.m. ET.
