Syracuse Edges Princeton 19-18 in NCAA Quarterfinal Thriller

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (WBNG) — Syracuse University outlasted Princeton University 19-18 in a thrilling NCAA lacrosse quarterfinal game on Saturday.
The match was intensely competitive from the start, with both teams exchanging leads. Syracuse pulled ahead in the third period with a score of 16-11.
Princeton responded fiercely, scoring five unanswered goals in just five minutes to tie the game at 16.
With 4:21 remaining in regulation, Syracuse’s Michael Leo scored, evening the score at 18-18. Just thirty-one seconds later, Owen Hiltz netted what turned out to be the game-winning goal for Syracuse.
Six players from Syracuse finished with multiple goals, led by Joey Spallina, who scored four times.
The Orange will advance to face the winner of the Maryland versus Georgetown matchup in the NCAA semifinals at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.
