Summer Transfer Window Approaches for Ligue 1 Stars

LYON, France – With the summer transfer window approaching, several Ligue 1 talents are expected to leave their clubs. Among them is Rayan Cherki, who is anticipated to make his exit from Olympique Lyonnais. The transfer window will officially open in just a few weeks.
Late last month, Alexandre Lacazette confirmed his departure from Lyon, while fellow player Rayan Cherki is also set for a possible move. Strasbourg talents Emanuel Emegha and Andrey Santos could also be on the move.
At AS Monaco, supporters are concerned about the potential departure of rising star Maghnes Akliouche. Thiago Scuro, the club’s Sporting Director, mentioned that Akliouche is destined to leave. “He is a candidate for departure, and he deserves to go to a place that believes in him for him to become an international player,” Scuro stated.
The situation has caught the attention of several clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City, both of whom have shown interest in securing Akliouche’s services. If he were to leave the club, he might have the chance to represent either the French national team or Algeria. Reports suggest that he is leaning towards playing for France, having already made several appearances with the U21 team and participated in last summer’s Olympics.
Similarly, Rayan Cherki is on the verge of leaving Lyon at just 21 years old. Various English clubs are looking into the possible transfer due to his contractual terms, which make negotiations more straightforward. The Parisien reports that Liverpool, Manchester City, and Tottenham have explicitly expressed interest.
Lyon has removed PSG from contention after previous failed negotiations. Cherki has had an impressive season, appearing 43 times and scoring 12 goals with 19 assists. Despite his technical skills, he has been noted for inconsistency, especially on defense.
After careful consideration, Liverpool has internally approved a budget of 22.5 million euros, equivalent to Cherki’s release clause. This decision follows positive scouting reports from their analysis team, with an offer expected to be submitted shortly.
The presence of Arne Slot as a coach has not hindered this recruitment process; the technical staff views Cherki as a high-potential asset who could adapt to their offensive strategies. Lyon, facing an economic challenge, may have to accept this transfer request to avoid legal repercussions.
As discussions about Cherki’s departure begin, it appears increasingly likely that he will leave the club soon, with June being a pivotal month for this transfer.
