Juneteenth Art Fest Returns to Charlotte with Expanded Events

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Following a successful inaugural event, the second annual Juneteenth Art Fest will take place at the Shoppes at University Place on Thursday, June 19, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The festival celebrates art, activism, and the African American experience of emancipation.
The event is free and will feature minority-owned businesses, local artists, live music, and dance performances along University City’s scenic lakefront. Guests can register for the event online to secure their participation.
Keith Stanley, CEO and President of University City Partners, expressed excitement about this year’s festival. “At our inaugural festival, we welcomed 10,000 attendees. This year, we aim to build on that foundation by welcoming new visitors who share our appreciation for community and education,” he said.
Stanley highlighted the importance of creating a space for learning. “As Juneteenth celebrations face cancellations across the country, we are proud to create a space for learning and connection, educating guests of all ages and backgrounds on the historical and cultural significance of Juneteenth.”
The festival’s creative director, who launched the event last year, aims to expand its vision by welcoming more performers, artists, and vendors passionate about advocating for social causes. Local businesses interested in participating are encouraged to inquire for more information.
Returning to emcee the festival is the owner of Uptown Inde, alongside an award-winning podcast host and media personality known for her vibrant presence.
