Mccallie School Seniors Video Reflection

Chattanooga, Tennessee — Five graduating seniors from McCallie School in Chattanooga have gone viral after answering questions posed by their sixth-grade selves. The video, posted on May 19, features Canon Brock, Will Turrell, Nkenge Ashford, Christian Lawhorn, and Ward Richey, who reflect on their younger selves and share their thoughts on life and growth.

The video shows the boys responding to questions they recorded in 2018, asking about their favorite hobbies, movies, and life lessons. Brock, addressing his childhood self, humorously recalls, “I thought I was so tough being able to solve a Rubik’s Cube back in the day.”

In the clip, Ashford confirms that “Star Wars” remains his favorite movie, while Turrell admits he has shifted his academic interests. “I’m a science guy now,” he stated.

The mood of the video takes a more serious tone when the sixth-graders inquire about the most significant life lessons learned thus far. Lawhorn advises, “Always be kind to others and always love others. Just treat your neighbor as you would treat yourself.”

The seniors, who graduated on May 18, expressed their gratitude for their time at McCallie. Brock emphasized the value of building friendships, stating, “Reaching out to people is probably the most important step you can take to building friendships, building a career, building all sorts of things in life.”

Ashford added, “I think I’ll miss the people I’m here with the most.” Each senior also shared their college plans: Brock will attend Mississippi State University, Turrell is going to Yale University, Ashford will attend Tennessee Wesleyan University, Lawhorn is heading to the University of Alabama, and Richey will go to the University of the South, also known as Sewanee.

The video has garnered over 40 million views on TikTok, resonating with audiences who appreciated the young men’s reflections. One comment read, “Be kind, to everyone, every time you can,” highlighting the lessons the seniors wanted to convey through their responses.
