Angela Bassett Hints at Possible Return in Black Panther 3

LOS ANGELES, CA — Angela Bassett, renowned for her role as Ramonda in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, discussed the potential return of her character in a recent interview.
Ramonda, the sovereign of Wakanda following the death of her son T’Challa, was killed during an attack led by Tenoch Huerta Mejía’s Namor in 2022’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. However, Bassett expressed her enthusiasm for reprising her role in the anticipated Black Panther 3.
During her appearance, the hosts of the show discussed her latest movie, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, and highlighted the support she received from co-star Michael B. Jordan, who attended the premiere. “We’re talking about ‘Mission: Impossible.’ It was thrilling…Michael B. Jordan was there, supporting you,” a host remarked, before pivoting to the topic of Wakanda. “Another movie, perhaps a third one.”
“That would be wonderful,” Bassett replied, envisioning a possible scene in the Ancestral Plane, a significant aspect of Wakandan lore where deceased characters are believed to reside. “I could be there. You know? It could happen. I would, absolutely,” she added, hinting at the ways her character could be integrated into the storyline.
In the MCU, the Ancestral Plane has been portrayed as an astral dimension. Characters like Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa have had significant interactions there. Letitia Wright’s Shuri also connected with Michael B. Jordan’s Killmonger in a memorable moment during Wakanda Forever.
The talented actress received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Ramonda in Wakanda Forever. During the interview, when a host noted that everyone wanted her to appear in Black Panther 3, Bassett wholeheartedly agreed, stating, “We do. Everyone wants it to happen.”
Reports indicate that Black Panther 3 could be released in 2028, though details remain sparse.
