Red Sox Look to End Losing Streak Against Braves Tonight

ATLANTA, Ga. — The Boston Red Sox hope to rebound from a five-game losing streak when they face the Atlanta Braves tonight at 7:15 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast on Apple TV.
After a disappointing three-game sweep by the Milwaukee Brewers, the Red Sox aim for improvement in their first match of a three-game series against the Braves. While the Sox had Thursday off, the Braves played a doubleheader in Philadelphia, splitting their games against the Phillies following a 9-3 loss despite Chris Sale‘s strong six-inning effort.
Boston will rely on right-hander Lucas Giolito to take the mound. Giolito is coming off his best start of the season, where he threw seven scoreless innings against the Brewers, allowing six hits while striking out six. He is currently 1-1 with a 5.27 ERA.
On the opposing side, Atlanta will send out Grant Holmes, who has performed well lately, allowing two or fewer runs in four of his last five starts. Holmes holds a 3-3 record with a 3.68 ERA.
The Red Sox lineup will include Jarren Duran in left field, Rafael Devers as the designated hitter, and Carlos Narváez behind the plate. Meanwhile, the Braves will lineup with Ronald Acuña Jr. as right fielder and Matt Olson at first base.
Statistically, Boston’s Rafael Devers has been hot, batting .365 with seven home runs this season. However, Giolito has struggled against the Braves in previous outings, holding an 0-2 record with an 11.12 ERA across four games.
Notes from the Red Sox side include a 14-game hitting streak by Braves second baseman Ozzie Albies, who has raised his batting average significantly during this stretch. With many factors at play, both teams look to improve their standings in the season.
This matchup is critical for the struggling Red Sox as they attempt to stave off further descent in the standings.
