Los Angeles, CA — Director Fede Alvarez is moving forward with the next installment in the Alien franchise, as confirmed on a recent podcast. Filming is set to begin in October, following pre-production work that Alvarez has been quietly handling behind the scenes.

Details about the new film remain scarce, but Alvarez hinted at involvement from characters played by Cailee Spaeny and David Jonsson. He expressed excitement about exploring new narrative possibilities within the Alien universe. “Wherever we go now, we can go into uncharted waters,” Alvarez said. “I think it’ll be so exciting to go with characters you know from this movie, to a place in the Alien franchise that we’ve never been before, and to discover things that you’ve never seen before.”

The previous film, Alien: Romulus, exceeded box office expectations, grossing over $350 million, and was initially intended for a Hulu release. This success likely prompted Disney to fast-track a sequel. Although specific plot details remain undisclosed, the studio’s investment in both the Alien franchise and related projects indicates a vibrant future for these sci-fi stories.

Meanwhile, 20th Century Studios is also gearing up for the release of Predator: Badlands later this year, along with an animated series titled Predator: Killer of Killers on Hulu. The interconnectedness between these franchises raises questions about potential overlaps in storylines.

While there is currently no confirmed release date for the new Alien film, fans can expect updates in the near future, promising a thrilling continuation of the beloved series.
