Women of Comedy Showcase Shines Light on Female Performers

Beverly Hills, CA – TheWrap hosted its inaugural Women of Comedy Emmy Showcase on June 5, 2025, at The Crescent Theater, bringing together some of the funniest female performers on television.
Acclaimed comedian Whitney Cummings served as the host for the invitation-only event, which celebrated the contributions of women in comedy. Throughout the evening, attendees engaged in panel discussions that highlighted the creative journeys of the performers and witnessed how the comedy landscape has changed for women over the years.
The event featured several noted talents, including Bridget Everett, star and executive producer of HBO‘s critically acclaimed series ‘Somebody Somewhere.’ Other panel guests included Brenda Song from ‘Running Point,’ Christa Miller of ‘Shrinking,’ and Wendi McLendon-Covey from ‘St. Denis Medical.’
Sharon Waxman, founder and editor-in-chief of TheWrap, expressed excitement about honoring these remarkable performers. ‘We’re thrilled to honor these incredible performers whose work continues to redefine comedy and captivate audiences,’ she said. ‘This event is a celebration of their unique voices and the impact they’re making across television and entertainment.’
The showcase, supported by Comedy Gives Back, aims to provide financial crisis relief, mental health treatment, and community support to those within the comedy field. Sponsorship for the event came from major networks and platforms such as Prime Video, NBC, FX, ABC, Apple TV+, Max, Warner Bros. TV, Disney+, and 21SEEDS.
As the evening unfolded, it became clear that the Women of Comedy Showcase is an essential step in recognizing and promoting the talent of women in a traditionally male-dominated field.
