Kelly Ripa Shares How Botox Changed Her Teeth Grinding Habit

New York, NY – Kelly Ripa revealed how Botox injections have dramatically changed her nighttime teeth grinding during the June 5 episode of her show, LIVE with Kelly and Mark. Ripa, who admitted to being a “real teeth clencher,” spoke candidly about her dental struggles.
“I used to grind my teeth at night until my dentist recommended Botox in my jaw, which has changed my life,” the 54-year-old actress said. Her husband, Mark Consuelos, teased her about her assortment of dental appliances, asking if she had both upper and lower retainers.
“I’m not going to tell you because you live with me and you see my bedtime routine every night,” Ripa responded playfully. Consuelos joked that her retainers caused her to slur her words. Ripa explained that her dental routines help with her teeth grinding issue.
“Tooth grinding, or bruxism, can cause tooth wear and lead to jaw and muscle pain,” Consuelos noted, discussing the common issue. Stress, anxiety, and even caffeine can contribute to this troublesome habit. He humorously added that “annoying husbands” might also play a role in tooth grinding.
According to a study published in a medical journal, Botox can be an effective treatment for nocturnal bruxism and related jaw pain. Ripa shared that her Botox treatment has reduced her need for various dental accessories, allowing her to simplify her nighttime routine to just an upper and lower retainer.
“I put my retainer in. That’s all I’ve got going on,” she said. Ripa, who is no stranger to Botox, has also shared how she uses it to combat sweat and aging.
“I know about Botox,” she admitted, showing her comfort with the treatment. As Ripa continues to discuss her experiences with dental care, it highlights her commitment to health and well-being.
This light-hearted conversation between Ripa and Consuelos gives insight into their relationship and the everyday challenges they navigate as a couple.
