GLENDALE, Calif. — Ten stars from DC’s revamped superhero franchise gathered for an exclusive photo shoot with Entertainment Weekly. The cast includes director James Gunn, stars David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, and Nicholas Hoult, as they prepare for the release of the highly anticipated film on July 11.

Corenswet, who plays Clark Kent, stands at an impressive 6-foot-4 in a striking blue suit during the photo shoot. His physical resemblance to past Superman actors, especially Henry Cavill, is highlighted by his strong jawline and dimples.

Gunn, also co-head of DC Studios, explained the film, titled Superman, signifies a fresh start for the franchise. This is after years of darker narratives, with his focus shifting towards themes of goodness and kindness in a world that often dismisses these values.

Corenswet shared his reflections on stepping into the role, stating, “There is a unique challenge to playing a guy who wears his underwear on the outside and can fly.” He revealed that unlike previous versions, Lois Lane, played by Brosnahan, already knows Clark’s secret identity, adding complexity to their relationship.

The film’s story includes a vibrant DC universe where metahumans have been known for 300 years. The plot revolves around Superman’s decision to intervene in a conflict between fictional nations, which brings him into conflict with the government and raises questions about his role in society.

Brosnahan, who portrays Lois Lane, emphasized the foundation of her character’s integrity and ambition, calling her “ambitious and hungry.” She described a significant scene where Lois confronts Clark about ethical challenges in his reporting, revealing her journalistic instincts and personal connection to him.

Gunn also introduced the supporting cast including Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor and a new character named Angela Spica, played by María Gabriela de Faría, who brings her unique edge as Luthor’s confidante.

While there has been some concern over the ensemble cast, Gunn assured fans that each character serves a purpose in the larger narrative. He remarked, “I grew up reading DC and Marvel comics… This is a place where there’s an island full of dinosaurs that probably exists.”

The excitement builds as the release of Superman approaches. With an aim towards connected storytelling within the DC universe, fans are eager to see how the film will pave the way for future projects.
