Jade Cargill to Star in Action Thriller True Threat

NEW YORK, NY — WWE superstar Jade Cargill will make her acting debut in the upcoming Harlem-set action thriller, True Threat, directed by Gerard McMurray. The film stars Jonathan Majors as Vernon Threat, a Special Forces operative seeking vengeance for his son’s murder.
Production is set to begin this fall. Cargill, known for her athletic prowess in wrestling, will portray Meeka, a key antagonist in the film who controls the red-light district in a notorious building known as The Carter. This character positions her as a power broker within the Apollo Kids gang.
Director McMurray expressed enthusiasm about Cargill’s casting, stating, “I am excited to have Jade join us on True Threat. She is a unique talent with a rare blend of athleticism, charisma and control on camera.” He added that the role requires precision, which Cargill brings to the table.
The film, produced by Alexis Garcia’s CAT5 and Charlamagne Tha God, marks a significant step for Southland Stories, a new company focused on amplifying underrepresented voices. The screenplay was co-written by McMurray and Hodge K. Johnson.
This project is not only a major feature for Cargill but is also noted for displaying the fighting style of 52 Blocks, a form of Black American martial arts, on screen for the first time.
Cargill’s casting announcement came after her breakout performance at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas, where she solidified her status as a rising star in professional wrestling.
