Alameda County Fair Rides And Livestock

PLEASANTON, Calif. – The Alameda County Fair kicked off its 113th year on June 13 at the Pleasanton fairgrounds. This year’s event promises fun and excitement, featuring fireworks, a drone show, and various attractions for all ages.

Although horse racing is not part of this year’s fair, attendees enjoyed a range of activities. Sunday featured thrilling rides and special attractions, such as camel rides, which are new to the fair this year. Children and adults alike flocked to the petting zoo, where goats, sheep, and other livestock were on display.

The fair is particularly known for its food offerings, attracting many food enthusiasts. “I like to see the livestock, listen to the music and ride the overhead tram thing,” said fairgoer April Thomason. Popular food items include turkey legs, corn dogs, and deep-fried Twinkies.

In addition to the classic attractions, the fair is introducing exciting new events this year. Visitors can soar above the fairgrounds in tethered hot air balloons and watch acrobats perform dazzling trapeze shows. These additions are aimed at enriching the experience for returning attendees and newcomers.

The fair continues every Wednesday through Sunday until July 6, offering something for everyone. With the Alameda County Fairgrounds facing a serious financial challenge of $5 million in losses, the future of horse racing in Northern California remains uncertain, highlighting the importance of this community event.
